As the year draws to a close, we want to take this opportunity to wish our clients and connections a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We would also like to thank you for all of your business and support during 2023.

It’s been a busy and exciting year at Casa Environmental Services, so we have taken the time to reflect on all we have achieved.

Throughout 2023, Casa undertook a total of 7,293 asbestos surveys, 1732 air tests, and we analysed over 30,000 bulk samples in our in-house laboratory. We also had 21 new members of staff join us!

Casa kickstarted the year by successfully securing a contract with the Lighthouse Schools Partnership, to conduct asbestos management surveys on their school sites over a duration of three years. We were also successful in winning a contract with South Oxfordshire Housing Association, and were awarded a place on the Surrey County Council framework.

Following another successful visit from our accreditors, UKAS in May, Casa began a large recruitment drive and established a new comprehensive induction and company integration process. Over a three-month period, we hired 19 members of staff. These included trainee and qualified surveyors, site analysts, a number of administrators and contract coordinators, as well as an expansion within the business development team!

As a result of our expansion, our directors introduced private health care for all staff and established a new mental health and wellbeing policy to raise awareness and to reduce the stigma around mental health struggles in the workplace.

In the summer, Jake Kelly was appointed as our new regional manager for our Southampton branch, following him initially joining the company as a trainee surveyor seven years ago.

Throughout the year, Casa has taken part in a number of sponsorships, including Lansdown Golf Club, local golf pro Joe Long, and West Exe U13 football club. We became a Futura Business Partner, which is comprised of local organisations that are dedicated to reinvesting back into the trust to develop and enrich the experience of their students. Casa also began working with Futura during the year for their asbestos management requirements.

In September, we began our contract with a keu blue light service, which you can read more about here. We were also successful in securing a contract with Plymouth City Council. This requires Casa to conduct asbestos management surveys and bulk sampling on a range of council buildings, including office blocks, libraries, community centers and commercial and industrial buildings.

We launched our new Water Hygiene and Legionella Department, and were joined by our head of water hygiene, Lee Harding. Casa can now offer legionella risk assessments and water hygiene management plans to keep you safe and compliant.

As the year began to draw to a close, things remained busy at Casa; we were awarded a place on the LHC Framework and on the CHIC dynamic purchasing system. Casa was successful in securing the contract with the First Federation Academy Trust to reinspect their buildings and assist them in managing their asbestos.

Throughout 2023, Casa has been busy conducting surveys on various sites across the UK on behalf of the Home Office, The Ministry of Justice and more specifically the prestigious QEII Centre in London. Casa has been working with many large construction companies such as Kier, BAM Construction, ISG, Galliford Try, Morgan Sindall and many more. In addition, Casa has also been working closely with many NHS departments carrying out surveys to various hospitals, medical centers and administration buildings.

Casa saw the launch of our new Asbestos Removal and Project Management department. As part of this service, we provide end-to-end solutions for all sizes of asbestos removal projects, with our project managers designing, consulting and advising to provide you with the most cost effective and compliant results.

In November, we opened our fifth Casa office in the Midlands, allowing us to expand our regional coverage even further. The new office has got off to a busy start with many new orders being received each day. Our office is managed by Phil Mclean who has over 18 years’ experience in the asbestos industry.

After such an expansive, busy year, we are looking forward to winding down over Christmas, before getting back to business in the new year!
