In accordance with The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and COSHH Regulations 2002, persons responsible for water systems in premises have a legal obligation to ensure building users will not become exposed to waterborne bacteria. To achieve this, risk assessments must be undertaken, and subsequent preventative management actions implemented where necessary.
Our water hygiene services are compliant with HSE’s Approved Code of Practice L8, HSG 274: Legionnaires Disease, and BS 8580-1:2019. All of our specialist assessors are City and Guilds qualified. Our reports are comprehensive and easy to understand, and we offer a free aftercare service to help you understand your risk assessment, scheme of control or sample results, and to answer any questions you may have.

Legionella and Water Hygiene Risk Assessments
Our experts will begin by conducting an assessment of your premises to identify the risk of exposure to Legionella bacteria in hot and cold-water systems, following processes set out in HSG274: Legionnaire’s Disease and BS 8580-1:2019. During the assessment, they will determine conditions present that may allow proliferation of Legionella bacteria in water systems. This includes taking temperature measurements at key points, identifying potential stagnation areas, and ascertaining sources of nutrients that may feed bacterial growth, such as organic materials and detritus in storage cisterns. Once completed, our team will produce a risk assessment report explaining the severity of each risk along with recommendations and ongoing control schemes to mitigate them.
