Casa Environmental were recently requested to survey the drainage system of a stretch of the M4 motorway to facilitate proposed refurbishment and improvement to the system, involving both the Western and Eastern bound carriageways.

The survey was undertaken at night in order to cause minimum disruption to traffic. The Casa team made up of 3 surveyors, who are all suitably trained to work in confined spaces, worked in close collaboration with the local authority Highways Department. This, ensuring the inspection was undertaken safely and efficiently.

The survey involved accessing the narrow drainage system and it was therefore necessary to use confined spaces equipment including winches, tripod , gas monitors and emergency first aid equipment.
