Investigation into fibre release from Church organ blower box
Casa Environmental Services were recently asked to investigate the possible asbestos fibre release from an organ blower box. The primary aim was to establish if fibres were being expelled through the pipes. The investigation involved an analysis of the asbestos containing material inside the organ blower box and also other air testing & sampling methods at the church.
The research is being done to protect future generations and historic pipe organs from being scrapped unnecessarily. The findings will be shared with the national asbestos-related cancer charity Mesothelioma UK and other asbestos disease support groups, with a view to raise awareness.
