Asbestos Framework

Casa Environmental Services were recently commissioned to undertake a number of surveys to County Hall, the HQ of Devon County Council by NPS South West Limited.

The buildings were constructed in 1964 in the neoclassical style and the Grade 2 listed buildings were designated as a World Heritage site in April 1998.

County Hall is set in grounds which extend to 22 acres giving an air of the countryside in a city environment and members of the public are actively encouraged to take advantage of this amenity.

NPS Group, who have been a valued client of Casa for a number of years, are acting as multi-disciplined property consultants for a programme of maintenance and refurbishment works including the replacement of doors and windows throughout a number of buildings. Not all the buildings on the site are due for refurbishment however and this is reflected in the fact that a mixture of Management, Refurbishment, Demolition and Sampling Surveys are required.

The first survey was undertaken in January 2020 by our Devon and Cornwall branch to Lucombe House and the remaining surveys will be carried out in Phases terminating in November 2020.

The Asbestos Refurbishment Survey to Lucombe House, a four-storey office building, discovered asbestos containing materials in the form of cement window sills and firebreaks.
