Managing Asbestos Safely During your Home Renovations

Happy New Year to all our Clients and Partners from Casa! We’re already off to a busy start to 2025 and we’re looking forward to the year ahead.

If you are currently in the process of planning your home improvements, or renovating a new property in 2025, it is essential that prior to any work an asbestos survey is undertaken.

If your property, or the property you are purchasing, was built before 2000, it is possible that it contains asbestos. The use of asbestos wasn’t banned until 1999 and was used in over 3000 products up until this point. Within homes, some common materials are ceilings, insulation, and floor tiles.

If Asbestos is discovered in your home, if it is in good condition and remains undisturbed, then there is no cause for concern. If asbestos is found to be present, with a survey from Casa you can identify the correct course of action and remedial works ahead of any renovations you may be conducting.

It is essential to your safety and the tradespeople conducting the works, that that the risk of asbestos being present and/or disturbed is evaluated prior to beginning any works,  as well as what they will do should they suspect or discover asbestos.

The HSE’s Asbestos and You Campaign provides critical information that tradespeople in building, maintenance and allied trades require to ensure that work is conducted safely and compliantly for all building occupants.

Casa is highly experienced in working in domestic properties. Should you be unsure if you need a survey, or are about to start a home project, get in touch for a free, no obligation quote. We provide an end-to-end service to assist with any asbestos requirements and remediation works.
