Since last year, Casa’s Water Hygiene Department has been supporting The Pilgrims’ School in meeting their water hygiene and compliance requirements.
The Pilgrims’ School is a prestigious independent day and boarding school, also serving as a Cathedral Choir School. It is home to Quiristers from Winchester College Chapel Choir and Choristers from Winchester Cathedral Choir. Nestled among stunning historical architecture and situated next to the Bishop’s Palace and the ruins of Wolvesey Castle, the school offers breathtaking views of Winchester Cathedral.
Our Water Hygiene team initially attended the school to conduct a comprehensive Legionella risk assessment. This included detailed surveying of the entire site—taps, pipework, tanks, showers, and other water outlets which due to the age and complexity of the water system was no straightforward task! Following this, we have continued to provide ongoing legionella control schemes including monthly temperature monitoring, quarterly shower descaling and annual tank inspections.
In addition to hands-on work, our specialists offer ongoing consultancy to help the school address any issues identified during inspections. Due to the age and historic nature of the buildings, several challenges have arisen, such as outdated systems and deteriorated components. However, The Pilgrims’ School has worked closely with our experts to ensure full compliance with The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and COSHH Regulations 2002.
