Asbestos Awareness Week 2025
April 1st – 7th marks Global Asbestos Awareness Week, dedicated to raising awareness of the risks of asbestos and shedding light on the proper practice to protect yourself and others, and ensuring that your asbestos management plan is compliant and up to date. At Casa, we know that this is not just a once-a-year issue. Asbestos management is a year-round priority, and we believe that it should always be treated as such.
Although asbestos use has been banned in the UK since 1999, it remains present in a large proportion of buildings, posing ongoing public health risks. Proper management and safety precautions are essential to protect both residential and commercial property occupants.
Every year, asbestos exposure leads to around 5,000 deaths in the UK, contributing to nearly 1% of all fatalities. Its long-term health effects are severe, causing life-threatening diseases such as Mesothelioma, Asbestos-Related Lung Cancer, and Asbestosis.
At Casa, we recognise the impact and serious dangers of asbestos exposure and its lasting impact on health. Our highly qualified team is committed to providing seamless asbestos management solutions, ensuring compliance and peace of mind.
Last year, Casa undertook 8436 asbestos surveys, 3000 air tests and analysed over 50,000 bulk samples. Asbestos Containing Materials, known as ACMs, include but are not limited to; textured ceiling coatings, asbestos cement, pipe lagging, tiles, ropes, facias and insulating board.
If you are concerned about asbestos, or require any advice, please contact us via enquiries@casaenvironmental.co.uk or call us on 01179322323. We understand that compliance doesn’t always feel straightforward, but with Casa we pride ourselves on alleviating the pressures of this highly regulated industry and continually raising awareness about managing asbestos safely.
Let’s make sure that we continue to prioritise asbestos management and safety every day, not just during this dedicated week.
