BAM Construct UK fundraise for Above & Beyond
BAM Construct UK is aiming to raise £1,000 and the team kicked off their fundraising efforts with a remote rock, paper, scissors tournament last month. They are also planning a raffle and a sponsored challenge.
We are happy to announce that Casa Environmental Services has recently made a generous contribution of a gourmet gift hamper, a retro sweets mega gift box and a chocolate lovers ultimate hamper to the BAM Construction raffle.
This gift will help BAM Construction raise funds in aid of Above & Beyond. These funds will be used to support patients, their families and the staff who work tirelessly to care for them across Bristol city centre hospitals.
There has been a huge focus on NHS charities recently. Here are just a few examples of the wonderful projects that have been funded by Above & Beyond:
The Plasma Jet
A machine that provides innovative treatment for women cervical cancer. It uses plasma energy to vaporise small sports of cancer from the bowel, spleen and liver, meaning patients spend less time in hospital, have a much lower chance of the cancer returning and have higher survival rates.
A new echocardiography facility for the BHI
Staff at the cardiac intensive care unit (CICU) and the coronary care unit (CCU) are delighted with the new unit. Previously up to 10 patients a day were making the long trip to the old facility. Lead Echocardiographer at the BHI, said: “Some patients needing echocardiography scans are very high risk so have to be continually monitored during this process. The difference the new facility has made to staff wellbeing and patient care is huge.”
Staff wellbeing
A long-term wellbeing plan for hospital staff, including psychological support, and physical and healthy lifestyle initiatives over and above what the NHS can offer.
Laurie Pym, from Bam Construct UK, said: “We decided to raise money for Above & Beyond because they are partnered with University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW), who BAM are currently working with to provide new bed and office spaces to the hospitals.
“Due to a difficult year in 2020 for our essential services it seemed like the best fit to help support those who are directly helping the fight against Covid-19 and other ill-health issues.”
Laurie added: “We are very grateful for the help and support we have received from both Above & Beyond and UHBW. Hopefully if BAM continue work with the hospital, we can provide more charity events in the future.”
