Asbestos Management Surveys

Casa’s Devon & Cornwall Branch have recently conducted a number of asbestos management surveys to the Priory Retirement Village, a grade II listed property in the heart of Devon.

The site consists of a former church and outbuildings that are over 150 years old, having been originally built between 1847-1848. Following several refurbishment projects, the site was converted into the retirement village 2011, and now consists of a number of retirement flats and facilities, including 4 cottages, 39 apartments and a number of communal areas such as a hair salon, a swimming pool, a number of garages and meeting rooms.

In compliance with Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, building owners and churches have a legal duty to hold an up-to-date asbestos register, and manage any asbestos that is detected accordingly. To maintain their compliance, The Priory retirement village contacted Casa to carry out these surveys to ensure the safety of all residents and staff, as well as their compliance to asbestos legislation.

This survey took our site staff a total of 9.5 days to complete due to the size of the village. Our surveyors were required to be flexible in working around the day-to-day running of the village, in order not to disturb the residents when accessing their independent living spaces.
