Asbestos Management and Refurbishment & Demolition Surveys
Over the last year, Casa’s Hampshire branch has completed a series of works at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London, the largest dedicated conference, events, and exhibition space in central London.
We first began our work at the QEII Centre a number of years ago, conducting their annual asbestos re-inspections. In 2022, QEII’s Facilities Management Department contacted Casa to undertake a full new management survey to the whole of the property, as well as assist with Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys where required.
Casa’s Business Development Manager, Laura, conducted a day long visit with QEII’s Head of Facilities Management to discuss their requirements and devise a plan for the surveys to ensure that business at the conference centre could continue as usual whilst we conducted our works. As the centre is used on a daily basis by members of parliament for press conferences and meetings, security is fundamental, alongside ensuring there is no disruption to the day-to-day runnings of the centre. Therefore, a timetable was established with the flexibility of making changes to the programme of works if necessary.
Due to the scale of the site, we divided the survey into floors, and even sections of floors where required. Our highly trained asbestos consultant conducted the surveys over a number of weeks, booked to suit the programme of the conference centre.
The QEII Centre is situated close to the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey, with the original site dating back to 1825. It was turned into the QEII Centre as we know it today in 1986. It’s comprised of 32 ‘empty box’ style rooms, accommodating 2,500 people, where over 400 meetings are held each year. The site is also home to over 2,000 square metres of exhibition spaces.
Following the completion of all management surveys, the client has expressed their satisfaction with Casa, stating “Casa Environmental is a great service provider who always delivers excellent work and places great value in client relations.”
This has been an interesting site for Casa to attend, and we look forward to continuing our work with QEII with Refurbishment Surveys and annual reinspection’s keeping them fully compliant with current legislation.
