Casa Environmental Services have undertaken a demolition survey to the Former Royal Mail Sorting Office in central Bristol. The large 6 Storey derelict building was due for demolition and subsequent redevelopment and Casa client, Kier Construction, needed reassurance that all asbestos containing materials had been located and quotes could be obtained for removal of all asbestos present prior to work on site proceeding.
An experienced team headed by lead Surveyor Adrian Muttram were sent to site and spent 13 days carrying out a thorough inspection. During the survey 128 samples were taken of suspected asbestos materials many of which proved to contain asbestos in the form of pipe insulation, gaskets, mastic, insulation board, rope seals and cement.
