Over the summer, Casa’s Analysts were busy conducting works at Filton’s Brabazon Hangars, in preparation for the plans for a new 17,000 capacity concert arena.
The birthplace of the Brabazon airliner and supersonic Concorde is being repurposed to create a YTL Arena Complex; an exciting 365-day-a-year entertainment venue for the southwest. The multi-purpose auditorium will host everything from full capacity live music shows, sporting events, family entertainment and comedy shows.
Over a 12-week period, our analysts oversaw and monitored the removal to insulation debris of structural steel works at both ground and high level, as well as working to ensuring safe environmental cleanup of structural steels and service trenches.
Due to the scale of the site, several inspections were conducted at high level using rope access teams for cleaning, and Casa subsequently inspected from Mobile Elevated Work Platforms.
Casa’s operatives also undertook personal air monitoring to ensure safe conditions of work, standard four stage clearances and as static monitoring, which works to ensure the efficiency of the enclosure.
The data we collated allowed works to continue under semi-controlled conditions, which enabled works to progress safely and efficiently in line with the client’s programme.
This venue will become the third largest in the UK, after the O2 in London and Manchester Arena, and is set to contain a conference hall, businesses and leisure facilities and shops.
This has been a hugely exciting job for Casa to be a part of, and we look forward to welcoming this new venue in Filton.
