Asbestos Survey

Casa were recently instructed by leading property and real estate consultants GVA, on behalf of Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust,  to undertake a Refurbishment Survey to specific areas of Bath NHS House and Hillview Lodge which form part of the Trust’s estate.

The survey was undertaken to facilitate refurbishment and minor reconfiguration works to office accommodation, meeting facilities and staff welfare. The work included the renewal of flooring and decorative finishes, lighting upgrade works, and installation of new power and data points.

Casa surveyor James West undertook the work, during which he was subject to witness assessment and re-inspection audits both of which he successfully passed. Audits are frequently taken of surveyors and analysts in compliance with Casa “in house” procedures and UKAS Accreditations to IEC/ISO 17020 and 17025 standards.

During the survey 23 samples of suspect asbestos materials were taken. 10 samples contained asbestos, identified as ‘low priority’ in the form of cement flat sheet and bitumen products.
