Water Hygiene for a Southwest City Council
Client:
City Council in the Southwest
Service:
Water Hygiene
Casa’s Legionella & Water Hygiene Department have recently conducted a number of urgent works for a local City Council in the Southwest.
Casa attended a residential tower block, which happens to be the oldest in the city. The block had been unoccupied for a number of months, resulting in the risk of possible stagnation and legionella contamination within the domestic water systems of each flat
Our Head of Water Hygiene, Lee Harding, provided an essential, in-depth consultation service to advise our client on the best course of action, eliminating any risk of infection upon reoccupation of the flats, and providing a full risk assessment and plan of action for the future of the block.
Casa’s Water Hygiene Team carried out a full clean and disinfection of the ‘fortic’ style water heaters within each flat, alongside a descale and disinfection of all outlets and shower heads. Water samples were taken from each flat for analysis of legionella, and in the event of any positive results, further remedial actions were taken to ensure all flats had clear samples returned.
This was a large-scale job for our Water Hygiene Department, having to complete works to over 100 flats over 3 weeks to allow for the planned dates for reoccupation to be met. Access to each flat had to be arranged individually with the tenant, meaning efficient communication and scheduling from Casa was essential.
Our client was delighted with the service provided, stating: “Excellent service with very tight deadlines. Lee and the onsite team were an absolute pleasure to deal with.”
We look forward to continuing our work with our client, providing advice and consultancy for their legionella compliance.
