Last week was Global Asbestos Awareness Week (1st – 7th April).

We have chosen to talk about it this week though, because asbestos is something that should be considered every week.

Very sadly over 5,000 deaths occur every year throughout the UK due to causes linked with past asbestos exposure, such as asbestosis, mesothelioma and lung cancer. Even though use of the material was banned in the UK in 1999 it is still found today in many applications in both residential and commercial properties throughout the world.

ACMs – Asbestos containing materials – include, but are not limited to; tiles, rope, fascias, asbestos insulating board, asbestos cement, pipe lagging and textured ceiling coatings.  Last year CASA Environmental Services LTD carried out 4000 asbestos surveys and analysed over 22,000 samples.

The Health and Safety Executive have helpful information on asbestos which can be seen here:  https://www.hse.gov.uk/asbestos/faq.htm

If you suspect you have an asbestos concern and would like advice, or for us to arrange a quote for a survey please do not hesitate to get in touch with us via email at  enquiries@casaenvironmental.co.uk or we would be happy to speak with you on 0117 9322323.
